Kathy was the first Licensed Professional Business Coach in the city of Houston and specializes in helping people determine career direction, job search execution, and assists executives and business owners to develop an executive strategy, by employing a long-term, values-based blueprint to lead them to greater success through goal and mission development, and action plans addressing all areas of corporate and business success, including leadership, business strategy, marketing, sales, human resources, customer service, systemization, and maximizing profits that allow them to achieve success and build a life of their own so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor. Kathy has successfully coached and guided people from all walks of life and corporate levels, from skilled crafts/trades to CEOs from various industries, with a wide variety of functions from major corporations, including Dow Chemical, Reliant Energy, CenterPoint Energy, Ranger Insurance, Chicago Bridge & Iron, Nortel, Deutsche Bank, Union Carbide Corporation, Saloman Sports, Vallen Safety Supply, Premcor, Marathon Oil, Societe General, The Houston Ballet, Sears, Rhodia, Enron, Siemens, KMC Telecom, Auchan, K-Mart, Academy, BP, Da Camera, Valley Forge, HomeTrust Mortgage, Greystar, Best Cleaning, and ReEmergence.
Prior to being recruited as a Career Coach, Kathy worked as the VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) Therapist for FamilyTime Foundation, a non-profit agency, providing counseling, shelter, legal, and other community assistance to local residents. There she counseled victims of violent crime and facilitated support groups for these individuals to assist them in dealing with their traumatic experiences and moving forward with re-building their lives.
Kathy is seasoned in coaching and counseling individuals, couples, families, children, and groups. She has facilitated empowerment groups for gang prevention for parents and children, and for empowering women with HIV/AIDS with Catholic Charities. She has also counseled college students and staff and developed and presented self-improvement and career counseling workshops with the University of Houston's Counseling & Testing Center.
While working in the natural gas industry, Kathy managed and assisted in the negotiation of transportation contracts for a gas marketing company, and worked with operators, producers, gas accounting, and gas control to schedule, balance, and allocate gas on one of the nation's largest gas pipelines.
Kathy graduated in the top of her class with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. She received coach training through MentorCoach, The Coach Training Alliance, and The Professional Business Coaches Alliance, and has extensive crisis response training from the National Organization for Victim Assistance.
Kathy has presented numerous business and professional success topics including "Enhancing Leadership Through Exceptional Communication," "Marketing Effectively to Your Existing Customers," "How to Evaluate and Increase Your Business Effectiveness," and "Generating an Endless Stream of New Clients Through Referrals" to major corporations, such as Grant Prideco and local networking groups, such as Houston Networking News and the Bauer Alumni Breakfast. She has also presented numerous job search success topics such as "Revitalizing a Stalled Job Search," "Personal Branding," and "Creative Ways to Expand Your Networking" for various groups, including the Between Jobs Ministry Senior Managers Groups and the Financial Executives Networking Group, and presents teleclasses on these topics.
She was a sponsor for the Success in the City 2004 and 2005 Chrysalis Award winners and serves on the Advisory Board for the organization, which is dedicated to empowering and educating women entrepreneurs. Kathy Co-Chaired a Pilot Project with the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston to create Personal Boards of Directors for the students to jump start their careers upon graduation, and served on the steering committee as the Hotel Relations Director for the 2004 Women in Business Conference through Bauer and the Committee of 200. She also served on a work group with Health & Human Services of Fort Bend County that was creating a crisis management plan to deal with mental health concerns in the event of a bioterrorist attack or other emergency. She serves on several Advisory Boards and collaborates on special projects with the Bauer College of Business at UH. She is currently collaborating with MetLife and Bauer on an initiative dedicated to providing women in business the tools they need for whole life success.
Kathy is a member of the International Coach Federation, a Founding Member of The Professional Business Coaches Alliance, the Mental Health Association of Fort Bend County, the Houston LPC Association, and the Association of Career Professionals International. Kathy is also a Charter Member of her BNI Networking group, Houston Business Force, and serves as the group's Education Coordinator. As a former Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Houston Area Doberman Rescue, she assisted in the steering and management of the organization and fosters rescued Dobermans.
Throughout her careers, Kathy has volunteered with the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce, chairing numerous events, including the Confederate Air Force Show Ticket Sales, for which she was named Jaycee of the Month and received the Silver Key Leadership Achievement Award. She also chaired the Public Relations and Hotel Relations Committees for the Consular Ball, and worked closely with the Secret Service as a member of the White House Advance Staff and as a Motorcade Leader for the 1990 Economic Summit, as well as volunteering at the SAAFE House, a shelter for women who have been abused.
